THE CROCHETED ZOO

The Olive Harvest Trust 2023 Appeal

The Crocheted Zoo is our latest donation delivered in person by trustees and volunteers assisting with the olive harvest this past October. The recipients were pupils at the junior girls’ school in Burin – seen below showing huge enthusiasm.

70 hand-crocheted toy animals, made in Ireland by the talented and dedicated Marie, were transported to the West Bank and distributed to these delighted young girls. Each one was labelled with a quirky name – Clarence the Bat, Hamlet the Cheetah, Chloe the Woodmouse, Muffin the Puffin, Tarquin the Fallow Stag, Sid the Giant Anteater…. altogether making an interesting English lesson for the girls!

Marie requested that donations inspired by these crocheted animals be used to fund an item or project of educational and / or playful value.

If this project fires you up, please click on our Donate Button and then click ‘Yes’ for a specific Campaign then use the dropdown menu to click on ‘Zoo’. Your donation will then be earmarked for purely educational purposes as opposed to structural repairs which we often support.

We are always grateful for any amount, big or small, in order to boost the well-being of Palestinian children in a climate of constant oppression with little freedom of movement.

2022 has been and 2023 is still a particularly stressful year all over the West Bank.

Many thanks in advance!
