Dalia T.A. Faraj Appeal
Jihad and his son Omar with sister Dalia.
Those of you who have been with us to Palestine will know Jihad. It was at his family home that we spent our very first night in Madama. His sister, Dalia, is appealing for help for the living costs, in her words, “…to become a more effective and influential member in my society and among my colleagues in the field of civil and environmental engineering.”
She has started on a Masters course in Technology and Engineering Management in Spain. The first TRIMESTER is online, but in February she will need to continue her studies in Spain. She has raised the money for the fees herself but living expenses will be £460 a month plus the return airfare Amman to Barcelona £500 each way.
Dalia is confident that completing this course will have many beneficial effects for herself and her family and will also help her maximise a positive impact in Palestinian society.
Dalia writes, ‘No matter how small your donation is, be assured it will make a big difference to me. Thank you for your help.’

Dear All,
To begin, I would like to introduce myself as a typical Palestinian woman who comes from a large family made up of nine brothers and three sisters. I currently share a home with my 68-year-old mother, and three brothers. We all rely on one another to cover our living expenses.
I finished my bachelor degree in 2006, graduating from Al- Najah National University in Nablus, Palestine. I started my working life in the final year of my bachelor degree, where I worked with the Palestinian department of statistics during the weekends to help cover my university expenses.
After graduation from the civil engineering department, I started my career and for more than 10 years, occupied several positions as a civil engineer. My final position was as a project manager engineer with Palestinian local contracting companies.
I am aware that it is necessary to improve my management skills in the field of engineering and technology, to enable me to have more opportunities in the field of civil engineering. It is widely known our societies prefer men more than women in such positions, therefore, woman engineers should have very advanced engineering and management skills to compete with men. Therefore, I applied for a master’s degree in Technology and Engineering Management at Rovira I Virgili University in Spain to enhance my academic experience in the field of management., I aim to harness this academic experience in my field as a project manager engineer. I have been admitted to the course, starting 30th of September 2022.
The first part of the first semester is online and the second part of the first semester and the second semester are face-to-face, so I need to move to Spain and live there from the beginning of February 2023 to the end of September 2023.
For the past 10 years, most of my income I paid to help my brothers and sisters in their education and for helping my family with their living costs during the difficult situations that we have faced.
My total costs from February 2023 to September 2023 for the course, while living in Spain:
Return travel from Jordan to Barcelona £1,000
Room rent £1,800
Living costs £1,350
Local transport, utilities and University expenses £1206
Total £5356
I am confident that completing this course will have many beneficial effects for myself and my family and will also help me to maximise my positive impact in Palestinian society. I shall be very grateful if you can help me to achieve this important goal.
Kind regards
